Kyles Peace

Wednesday 26th January

To the teachers and students of the Waldorf School of Philadelphia,

On behalf of the Kyle Daniel Kerpan foundation I just wanted to thank each of the students and teachers that participated in making the feel peace drawings for the children at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia last month. The drawings were wrapped around 120 red and green blankets which were donated this year by IKEA South Philadelphia. The blankets were given to families and children both in the Oncology clinic and on the Oncology floor of the hospital. It is difficult for me to express how the beauty and simplicity of these drawings magically transform a plain blanket into something very special. I watched one little boy going in for his treatment with his picture in hand and his blanket being carried by mom behind him. As I left the clinic that day there was another boy receiving his chemotherapy wrapped in his green blanket with his picture beside him, there was a peace around him…Kyle’s Peace, the name of our program at CHOP. I thank you so much for choosing to be a part of it and helping me to bring peace to kids with brain tumors and their families.

Sincerely,
Joan Kerpan
