Ribbons on the Pike

Thursday 27th May

Joan Kerpan and a handful of volunteers began the month by quietly tying silvery- gray commemorative ribbons along Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill. At press time, they expected to end the month with a May 28 event called Feel Peace Day at Colonial Middle School.

Both efforts mark National Brain Tumor Awareness Month. But more directly, they pay tribute to the memory of Kerpan’s son, Kyle, whose brain tumor caused his death in November 2006, mere weeks after he and twin sister Tessa (now an 8th Grader at WSP) had celebrated their 11th birthday.
